Attachment Patterns and Friendship

A reflective look at how you relate

This is a self awareness tool — not a label, not a diagnosis. It looks at three relational tendencies that often live alongside each other:

  • Avoidant Tendency — moving away from closeness when emotionally activated.
  • Ambivalent Tendency — moving toward connection when emotionally activated.
  • Secure Functioning — staying grounded, honest, and present through closeness, uncertainty, and repair.

Most people carry some of each. Patterns can shift across relationships and over time.

Before you begin

Twenty four short reflections, one at a time. Answer based on how you generally feel and respond in close friendships, not in any single relationship. There are no right answers.

Anonymous assessment data may be used in aggregate to better understand friendship patterns and improve the framework. Personal identifying information is not displayed alongside assessment results.
